With a highly-rated HEPA filter at each lab table, science students will be safer and feel more comfortable engaging in hands-on labs during the pandemic. Good air quality, even in non-pandemic times, is a critical component of public health and is emphasized in Ms. Cole's and Ms. Urbina's Environmental Science and Biology curricula. Students will also study climate change and pollution effects on the atmosphere in Ms. Kenny's Earth Science classes as well. Students will gain knowledge about how the HEPA filter technology works, its public health impacts, as well as experience its benefits first-hand. Besides air quality during the pandemic, students are also particularly interested in how the now-yearly wildfire smoke affects their community and these filters serve as both a learning experience and a direct health-gain to them.
