The School District is a very unique school district. We have over 2,600 students across our high school campus (two buildings total). Our district is a Title I school and it is in a low-income urban area. Many of my students come from single parent homes and lack support and encouragement to succeed in school. Many students in the School District of Lancaster are English Language Learners who speak 38 different native languages. Hundreds of these students are refugees from countries like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Syria, Poland, Ukraine, Burma, Cuba, India, Kenya, Iran and Iraq. My students are resilient and they are able to take their individual circumstances to motivate them. Each student comes to school with a different background and a different home situation but together we are a community. My students are proud... they are strong ... they are brave ... and most importantly, they do not give up.
