Representation is so important. Especially when it comes to education. When students read texts they can relate to with characters who look like them, it helps them understand the lesson better. They’re able to make those important connections to the text because of their experiences. My love of reading started early, but when I received a collection of Toni Morrison’s books as a gift, my love of reading and writing grew. It inspired me to write about my experiences, so people like me can relate to. I want my students to have that same zeal for reading, as well as writing. Help me make this come true. Thank you!
