My students will learn about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through science and literature. They will learn how world nations jointly created goals to solve pressing problems and improve our planet. BrainPop videos will build students' background knowledge and introduce academic vocabulary on SDG topics such as environmental science and health. The books will complement our learning by allowing us to delve into specific SDGs. Students will read and then write reflections on issues, plus create their own videos to foster their oral language development and confidence. Straddling two cultures, my students often don't know where they fit in. Learning about the SDGs gives them a sense of belonging -they realize everyone is a world citizen and anyone can contribute to make our planet better.
