Our District's Esports program is fairly new, but some schools already have an unfair advantage with the equipment that is accessible to their students. My students are from a low-income community, where many of them do not have access to consoles because the money in their household is needed to put food on the table. The items we are requesting will allow more students to join our after-school Esports program, which will keep them out of the streets and allow them to build college and career readiness skills including collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and perseverance. Many colleges and universities offer scholarships and full-rides to students that compete in Esports programs, so this is a great way to support a student's future!
