So many of my students are out of their classrooms due to disruptive behaviors and emotional outbursts. This disrupts not only their own learning, but the learning of others. Allowing them to learn coping and social skills through reading and play will allow them to re-engage with the classroom environment. My students come from communities that have been hit hardest by the pandemic and systemic racism. Their social and emotional learning has often taken a back seat to survival through the pandemic. The books will be used to directly speak to the skills they need to develop and the games will support the practice of these skills.
