During these unprecedented times, learning to think like historians is essential for students to make sense of the present time we are living in. Learning United States history must center the voices of Indigenous people who have lived here and stewarded this land since time immemorial. The engaging, meaningful, accurate history told in An Indigenous People's History of the United States will be incredibly valuable for my students. Having multiple copies of the text available will make it possible for each student to have their own copy to engage with. Having their own copy will help students engage with the text outside of the classroom and beyond 11th grade US history!
