Too often, students are uncomfortable in classrooms. It's either too hot, too cold, desks are hard, inflexible, and crowded. For my classroom, I aim to be different. Research backs the idea that students who are physically comfortable and feel safe in the classroom environment are more engaged, better learners, and look forward to coming to school. Imagine being able to come into a classroom and feel like it's a place you belong, where you can sit wherever and however you're comfortable. For my students at our alternative high school, it is my goal to ensure that they have these flexible seating options and that they are in a classroom that feels safe and comfortable. With your help, I know my students will value the time they spend in my classroom and the important life skills and learning they gain by joining me here.
