My special needs students learn best by doing and having repetitive practice doing what most would consider basic skills. The coffee marker and supplies will allow my students the opportunity to open the The “PIONEER COFFEE STOP”, a real life learning opportunity. Our in school “store” will give students the opportunity to practice their math skills; counting money, inventory, time sheets. Communication skills; as greeters, taking orders. Most importantly what is basic for most but difficult for my kids, basic social skills such as eye contact , conversing with customers, in a real life situation as we work to generalize classroom work, one step closer to real life.
