I want my students to have access to scientific calculators that will help my students gain the experience of using the tools available to them when they go to college. Along with the calculators, I have chosen graph paper, protractors and other materials that will help them learn the math skills needed to be successful at the college level. These students often feel as though college is not a goal they will be able to achieve. For some, they will be the first members of their families to graduate high school. For others, they will be the first to attend college. They are taking this class to take that first step in making their dreams a reality. This class is designed to break the barriers they have and to gain a basic understanding of the math skills needed to enter college with confidence. As we introduce new and more difficult concepts, the calculators and other materials can help support them in learning and making the connections they need.
