Our school has seen deficits in number sense in all grades. The math teachers have petitioned for and received a new math curriculum by Greg Tang. The curriculum is very straightforward, student and teacher-friendly. We are requesting these manipluatives to go alongside this new curriculum. We will use these materials to increase participation and give every student a chance to respond. The number bond shows the connection between addition to subtraction. The unifix cubes are easy to use and allow students to break apart and combine numbers. We're hoping to develop strong number sense for younger students that will carry into higher grades.
