My 7th grade social studies classroom uses musical instruments to build a sense of community and to explore different cultures around the world. We have keyboards, kalimbas, claves, lyres, guitars, a ukulele, and a tongue drum. Most of our instruments are European or African origin, but many of the students are really interested in Oriental music because of anime. This traditional Chinese guzheng would be a perfect addition to our classroom collection of instruments! Our school has a theme based on Avatar the Last Air Bender, which heavily features the guzheng in its soundtrack and I know the students would be blown away to see and touch the instrument that makes that beautiful music.
