These materials will make a world of difference for students struggling with obtaining materials from home or ideas for their project. Students will be bring materials in from home but also taking materials from school to home to brainstorm ideas for their car design. I introduce students to Newton's third law of motion along with defining speed, velocity and acceleration. Students then put those vocabulary into use describing how their car has speed, velocity and acceleration within Newton's third law of motion. Students' learning outcome comes full circle when they complete their Balloon Powered Cars and then put all the different vocabulary together to explain how their cars moved with only a balloon!
