Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating students and changing their behavior. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them. During independent work times they can choose a location in my classroom fits their needs. Students visit my classroom for many reasons such as behavior, academic help and intervention. When they enter my goal is to make them feel "safe and comfortable" and to let them know their voice matters. These needs can be met by providing flexible seating arrangements in a cozy atmosphere.
