Having access to an appropriately-leveled classroom library will allow my 1st grade students the opportunity to read at their independent reading levels, as well as allowing them access to more challenging content intended to increase their reading skills. The ability to choose books at their own level will help them discover a love and enjoyment of reading, while the higher leveled books will allow students the opportunity to grow as readers, using new strategies for decoding and understanding. This library will provide a variety of fiction and non-fiction books to expose children to the variety of reading materials available to them in their learning environment.

About my class
