Being a first-year teacher, my classroom is in need of many basic supplies. Everything from a gift card for educational resources on Teachers Pay Teachers, to turn-in-your-work organizers, stackable plastic letter tray's to a monthly planner and academic calendar, and even Kleenex. Our class will benefit from the hanging file folder and the plastic rotating organizer when working in small groups and quickly accessing materials for their specific group. Each of these items will help me create the best learning environment for my students. I’m so thrilled at the opportunity to have personal-sized dry erase boards that will be used in multiple ways in our class. The first way I see the whiteboards being used effectively is when we split into small groups and I conduct individualized lessons, using a more detailed approach to their specific learning styles. I know that more than 70% of my students prefer or appreciate writing the math problems out with me while we work on them together. This has been difficult as we haven’t received our math workbooks and students must instead look off the board to follow along. I’m confident using a personal-sized dry erase board will increase their retention of how to solve math problems. For example, in a lesson I taught this week, I was teaching place values using decimals, and was not able to effectively check my students work on paper because it was too small to read from a distance. Having dry erase boards encourages students to write larger so I can check their work much faster and increases participation. This also helps us use less paper, which helps our environment and waste. The Expo towelettes and Expo whiteboard eraser will increase the longevity of our dry erase boards.
