This year I am a beginning teacher and I'm so lucky to be able to teach in a school and school district that emphasizes diversity. My classroom is full of students who come from all different backgrounds. My passion thrives in classrooms like these because it cultivates a sense of community that is founded on accepting and loving each other for who they are. Diversity in my classroom is so important because even though I am the teacher, children who come from different backgrounds have so much to teach each other. In order for these learners to thrive, it is essential to provide an open and comforting where we can have these important conversations and observations can be made. We are requesting diverse books.
