These books will help me create a culture of reading in my classroom. There will be something for every student to enjoy and if they fall in love with a book, then they can keep it without a fine. Too many have low reading scores because they don't have books at home and don't find reading fun. The goal is to provide books they want to read and books that will engage them from the beginning. I have seen students drastically improve their reading levels just by finding a book they enjoyed and a book they wanted to read. It is something that makes all the difference. And the look on a student's face when I tell them that they can keep that book they love is priceless. For many, it is the only book they own, and it is a step into becoming lifelong readers.
