This sensory center will help students with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) to be able to self-soothe when they are experiencing overwhelming emotions or are over-stimulated by extra sensory experiences happening in the classroom. Students who experience overwhelming sensory stimuli need to have their needs met in a calm and soothing environment. That is why I am seeking to build a sensory space within my classroom. I want students to have a space to go where they can regulate their emotions (as well as meet their sensory needs) in a calm, caring, and soothing environment.
