Most of the students that I see have since coming back from distance learning have had a bit of a hard time adjusting. Social anxiety has been pretty high, as well as, the number of student that I have with ADHD, and other anxieties of just being in middle school.
You can help make their day easier by giving them the tools to deal with the anxiety of coming back to school.
The dog tags and pencil toppers help with students who feel the need to chew on an item, but I would rather it be something that is not going to ruin their teeth or cause harm on another part of their body. For some students, fidgeting with their feet is the only way to get their nervous energy out, so the desk bands help to make sure they can do so without disrupting their classmates. The llama stress ball and rings are sensory items meant to help ground students who may need to calm themselves after panicking, or being over stimulated.
All of these items serve a specific purpose in order to best serve my students and help the succeed not only in my class but in all of their classes in middle school. By funding this project the items would be helping the middle school team as a whole as all the teachers benefit from a student being able to stay focused and happy.
