My first grade students don't have access to an art teacher or art supplies in our school. As a teacher who's greatest goal is cultivating creativity in the classroom, I would love the opportunity to let my students learn about and create art in their homeroom class. In doing so, I will integrate art into our literacy lessons, as well as allow students to express their emotions in healthy ways. This is especially important for my young ELL students, who struggle with writing and communicating their needs. I believe that integrating art and creation into my classroom will help teach teamwork and self expression, as well as foster a love of school within my class.
