I have students who will not eat school food, and I don't know their situations at home. I do know that they go all day without eating. Instead of going to the cafeteria during lunch they come to my classroom. I want to make sure that my students are eating something every day. I'm glad they come to me, but I want to provide more than just a place to hang out. If I have the resources to keep food for them, I can help meet a physical need and they are more likely to be successful in class.
