This project will make a difference in student learning because I am setting an example with them on how to find alternatives to using single-use papers and plastics. Not only this but using lap boards promotes student engagement. All my students love the privilege of using markers and dry erase mats. On a typical day, I use dry erase markers for the practices that do not have to be turned in for a grade. For example, last year, students came into my room with a bell ringer on the board, they then would use markers to answer the question on their desks and then be ready to discuss their answers after a couple of minutes. It made my job easier and it kept them engaged and ready to learn. In short, having enough dry erase boards for my students teaches them non-wasteful practices, keeps them engaged, and made my job a lot easier.
