Engaging novels in the hands of students will make an immediate impact by invigorating teens' excitement to read. All year long, students will be engaged in peer literature circles within their English classes as well as reading independently. These novels will become possible books for the literature circles, but will also be used as independent reading novels. While many students already love reading, many benefit from the support of having a very exciting book so they will find their love sooner rather than later! Students are geared up to grow their reading skills with passion and determination. High-interest novels will honor that passion and determination. At our school, we believe that students deserve both windows and mirrors in their novels: opportunities to see their experiences reflected as well as offering an opportunity to build empathy by understanding others' perspectives. The novels I've chosen for this project will accomplish these goals, and students' lives will be forever changed as they become lifelong lovers of books.
