Our 8th graders take U.S. History. Because there is so much that has to be covered, the history teacher doesn't get to give a lot of details on certain topics. This book will be read as a class, and it will allow me a chance to get more in depth with my students on what took place during the Salem Witch Trials. After reading this novel, I will follow up with my Holocaust Unit and Civil Rights Unit, where we will discuss the common theme of scapegoats throughout history. My hope is that by learning from the past, they will be less likely to repeat it in the future.
