By sponsoring my effort to acquire books for my middle school students, it is my hope that you will help push open doors for literacy that, for too many, have been left only partially opened. I would like to show them how reading opens doors of imagination and expressions, of wonder and delight. I have different book clubs where I try to match literature with student interests, especially boys. After we read, they are asked to complete a short activity such as writing letters to characters explaining similarities and differences.
