Currently, my students only have once week access to our school library. My goal is to have vibrant full library where my students can find a book at their level that they can identify with. I have students from many different backgrounds, socio-economic status, cultures, interests, preferences. I want my library to celebrate and reflect those differences. I included great scholastic sets for k-5 that contain all the best children's books. I currently modify curriculum from online books to aid in my students literacy acquisition. With access to tangible copies of excellent books I will be able to create tech-based lessons tied to my students real world experiences. I have also included graphic novels for my older students. Last year this particular type of book really grabbed some of my students attention and greatly increased their literacy and passion for reading. Any contribution will help build our classroom library in our tk-5 special education setting. We are so thankful to all donors out there!
