As a first-year teacher, I have worked hard to collect and gather books for my classroom library. I have gathered books from Goodwill and garage sales, but what I still lack are diverse books that reflect my diverse group of students. My students deserve to see themselves represented in their classroom library. I have chosen books that will not only allow my students to feel more welcome and included in their classroom but will also open a door to meaningful and necessary conversations about the world around them and themselves.
