One of the most important aspects of project based learning is allowing students the opportunity to use their own voices and interests to further their education. These materials were specifically requested by students due to their personal significance. Here are some of the students requests: "I want to build a music box from the 1770s because music is important to me." "I would like to do the 747-400 because my family has been in aviation for a very long time and I love planes." "I would be interested in building a model of a F-105 Thunderchief. This is one of my favorite aircraft and it is one of the best fighter/ fighter-bombers of its time." By building models, students will learn more about the engineering, history, and may develop life-long hobbies. Students will stay safe and healthy by working exclusively with their own materials rather than sharing with their whole class. Hands-on learning always engages and stimulates students to go the extra mile.
