Guided reading is an essential part of our day and due to classroom sizes and set up, we are left with few flexible seating options. Flexible seating helps to provide students with choices regarding where they will complete their classwork. Students are more engaged and open to learn when they have a voice in the classroom. Right now, students have the option of sitting at their desks, being on the carpet, or sitting on the floor. With these additional classroom materials, we will provide students with more comfortable alternatives to complete their reading in. When students are in an environment that feels warm and safe, they thrive and can reach new heights in their learning. With the use of beanbag chairs, students will be able to explore new worlds in a cozy spot in our classrooms. We are also requesting a laminator that will be used to create materials that can be sanitized easily to reduce the spread of germs.
