Scholastic News is an invaluable resource for today’s students. People learn the most when they are invested in what is being taught. My brilliant 4th graders are no different. They love reading the articles in Scholastic News because the articles relate to them and what is going on in their world. Most articles center around a child their age who has created something or achieved a feat. My diverse students can relate to the articles and that is imperative to their learning. Scholastic News articles help me teach reading standards so students can not only understand them, my students actually want to read and learn from the articles.
