In my school, there are barely any percussion instruments that students can use. Percussion is one of the most accessible instrument sections for students of any age, and ability. Taking into account the cleanliness protocols, this instrument is one that can be wiped down before and after each use, so that students can feel safe as they are learning to make music. I strive for equity to be the center of my approach to teaching music. This instrument will make a significant difference because it is accessible to all students, and students will get to accurately learn and practice on an instrument of good quality. My students deserve to have access to a quality instrument, despite their economic background, an instrument of good quality can help them learn and can inspire them to continue learning music and participating in musical experiences that otherwise, they would not get to experience at home.
