With this project, I hope to fund phonological awareness and grammar activities so that I can improve my students' skills in these areas. I have requested a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so I can purchase phonological awareness activities that I can use to improve my students' ability to decode and comprehend text. Studies have shown that phonological awareness is an excellent predictor of later reading mastery. My goal is for my students to read on level or above. I will also be purchasing grammar activities that will help my students realize that reading and writing are connected. Although frequently skipped, grammar is important because it helps improve readers' comprehension. It helps them realize that words have meaning. I'd like to find engaging activities that will help them learn these skills.
