My campus implements AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a college readiness program that inspires them to take control of their learning and be successful. Organization helps students stay in a routine. Knowing where everything goes and where to find it creates a positive, clean and organized learning environment. I serve two classes of students, which varies from 38-42 children. However, I only have one set of cubbies in my classroom for students to store the necessary materials for my class. Each individual cubby is shared by two students. I have asked for storage bins for my cubbies to help keep the students' learning materials separate, organized and always in the same place. This will allow the materials to be easily and quickly accessible, which in turn maximizes learning time in my classroom. I have also asked for bookshelves so that I can help get my classroom library organized to help my students better find books that excite them. I will also use these bookshelves to organize my students' center activities. These centers are used to enforce lessons in class and help close the gaps that students have. Having these centers organized will help students be able to be proactive and self sufficient in the classroom.
