Throughout middle school, scholars will be investing significant time to building their independent reading lives, including good reading habits and establishing their preferences for types of reading. In order to engage students in sustained independent reading, they need books with characters that look like them and topics that will grab their attention. These books will be the building blocks for our classroom library. At this time, there are no independent reading books in our classroom. This is our opportunity to build an engaging and inspirational class library that ties directly to our class mission, 'Discovering our Place in the World through Literature', and our state standards.
