Despite my varied approaches, some students still struggle to understand the concepts of multiplication and division. One area that is a challenge is following the step by step procedures as they often lose focus during computations. Having something for the students to have in their hands will help. After much searching, I believe this improved rekenrek will greatly improve my students' understanding of both multiplication and division by providing them with a better visual reference. Students will be able to see the numbers through the entire process, which will help them focus and learn.
