The students I work with are at a unique stage in their lives. Some of them love to read, and literally cannot put a book down. However, others do not like to read because they struggle with reading comprehension and the skills needed to read fluently, or maybe just because they have not realized that they can read about things they are interested in. With a comprehensive leveled library, students will do more reading independently, develop critical literacy skills, and, most importantly, develop a love of reading. I want books that appeal to all students and interests. Much of what is available to them is old and outdated. With many book choices, not only can students find something that suits their interests, but they can also find reading to match and meet literacy goals. Included in this library is a wide variety of text types and formats, so each student is sure to find something! My goal is to instill a love of reading by offering students modern, new titles that speak to them.
