After a year of learning online, I want to welcome students back into the classroom with as much joy and excitement as possible. With months of having to follow along with their teacher on a computer screen and living in a low SES district, I am worried that my new incoming first-graders may have missed out on the joy of holding a book in their hands and flipping through pages and pages of beautifully illustrated stories. As a new teacher starting out, my first-grade classroom is currently missing a grade-appropriate library and I believe the joy of reading should start as early as possible. I've managed to collect some books through my personal funds and local donations. However, there's definitely a long way to go. The books requested include a variety of topics to try and entice readers with various interests as well as reading levels. Please help spread the joy and wonder of falling in love with a good book!
