I am requesting timers, children's balance balls for flexible seating, Feety Chair Bands, and classroom buzzers for my classroom this year. Flexible seating will allow for all of the students to be able to learn how they learn best. Many of them struggle with being restricted and look for movement as they learn. Even as an adult, I find it difficult to remain in one seat consistently, for hours, without movement. Flexible seating gives students an opportunity to move, play, be free, and get their bodies moving. My biggest priority as a teacher is to ensure that my students feel comfortable, safe, and are ready to learn. Additionally, I have found that students enjoy having a voice in the classroom, and giving them the option to make their own choices allows them to be agents in their own learning. The balance balls will allow the students to have flexibility in their seating and movement-the kids will be able to move and fidget, as needed, in order to support and guide their focus. The Feety Chair Bands allow the students to engage in active movement as they learn. Sitting for long periods of time can cause the students to get antsy and lose focus; the bands will allow the students to actively stay moving while maintaining their focus.
