These books will bring our class together as students heal from the trauma and devastation of the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history. These read-alouds are resources to help students understand their feelings, make better decisions, and connect to each other. My 5 and 6 year olds need these stories of strength, community, and emotional regulation among the daily reminders of this natural disaster. In the challenging days and months ahead, we must focus on social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and community helpers as we make sense of this tragedy and the long road to recovery. Our world changed as fast as the wind. Help us rebuild in community so kids can learn and grow!
