These materials will be used in classroom guidance lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling to help students express their feelings through art and play, reducing anxiety. When children feel safe and happy, they are ready to learn. Through classroom guidance lessons incorporating the art supplies, students will learn emotional expression, resiliency and coping strategies (like managing frustration during an origami activity). During counseling sessions, students will learn problem solving skills through play based learning in the dollhouse and build confidence doing science experiments. Art activities will be used to facilitate emotional expression.
