These hands-on activities and materials will be used for students to improve their reading, writing, and math skills during center time. They can apply the content from class in these activities, which makes learning fun! Center time is important for my scholars to build independence and improve their social skills because, for many of them, this is time they have been in a classroom! They are finally able to collaborate with others to help each other grow. Students also enjoy this time because they can choose the centers they go to! My project includes activities that will address concepts, such as sight words, syllable recognition, phonemic awareness, number names, addition and subtraction, and more. They align with many of the kindergarten standards including the following: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.2 - Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes). CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.3 - Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4 - Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
