I am requesting a class set of One Crazy Summer which we can use to dive deeper, as a class, into the standards and harder conversations. These books will allow all students, regardless of their reading level to read the same book together as a class and to work on various projects and lessons associated with the book. This book will allow me to help my students to begin to understand diversity, cultures outside of their own, and about political and social movements during the 60s in the United States. I want to use this a class set of One Crazy Summer to illustrate the struggles others people or even my own students face regularly. This will help my students to begin to see the world through a different lens than their own. This book has a major theme of family that would allow students to talk about their own experiences and for myself to connect my own to what they are reading in the book.
