The students in my class will use these resources in the classroom in small group, individually, and guided by the teacher. When there is a need at home, these items can be borrowed by the parents to continue to work at home with their student. We all know that learning through play and in a casual environment quickly promotes learning. Who doesn’t love games? Or using interactive tools to help learn a skill? These materials and resources will be essential for my EL students this year and for their future. As an EL student myself, I recall my first EL classes where we played Candy Land and Shoots and Ladders for vocabulary. That game play environment allowed me to lower my wall enough to open up and learn my new language. I know these tools will do the same for my students.
