Adolescence is a time of change, confusion and transition, due to varying levels of trauma endured by students. Our goal is to help the whole child by encouraging them to change their way of thinking - focusing on being grateful and appreciative and living in the moment. Students will make their own gratitude journals to practice healthy strategies to improve their mindset. Especially, after the pandemic, students need to develop skills to help them develop a growth mindset. Students will personalize their advisory journals and embedded within the journal will be opportunities to practice gratitude and affirmations. Research states it takes 21 days to make it a habit and 90 days to make it part of your lifestyle. Students will empower themselves through a growth mindset by practicing gratitude. Our hope is to build a community of students who have a healthy mindset that will help them throughout middle school and beyond. Journaling is a tool that the students can take with them on their journey in life that will support them in every aspect of their lives.
