The class set of books will be used both in school and at home. Due to COVID restrictions, students are not able to share books with each other (as they had done in the past). I hope they will be given the opportunity to use their own copy of the books to practice vocabulary, phonics, as well as comprehension strategies as a group while safely keeping social distance. Students will be able to take the books home for added practice and will the event of a return to distance learning. To best suit the needs of all the students and provide resources that will be utilized in any situation from distance, to hybrid, to in person learning I will utilize Teachers pay Teachers to download appropriate digitized resources compatible with our school platform. Having targeted, differentiated tools that can be assigned not only in class but also digitally is so important in this ever changing situation. It is so important for these students who are at such a crucial age developmentally (especially for reading) to be able to continue their learning seamlessly in the event of a disruption to in person learning. Having the tools and resources available and ready will help myself and my students continue to make progress despite the challenges that may come our way. I also want to provide a SAFE way for my students to enjoy reading. Having designated book boxes will help to keep track of which books need to be "quarantined" before they are re-borrowed so that my students can safely continue to foster their love of reading. Last but not least, a rolling computer cart will help me provide feedback and take data on the go, and provide an alternative space for my students to record audio and video.
