When I ask my high school students about their most joyful reading experiences, most of them recount reading bedtime stories or reading on their carpet squares in elementary school. These books will help my students to see that reading can continue to be a pleasurable practice that is not only completed for school. They will see that reading is a lifelong skill and can be a lifelong passion as well. I have carefully selected each of these texts after conferencing with my students and conducting research on the latest high-interest Young Adult literature that teachers have successfully used in their classrooms to ignite students' enthusiasm for reading. Many of these titles are also ones that have inspired me in my own personal reading that I hope to share with my students, too.
