This year students will be experiencing various Project Based Learning units where they will be brainstorming and designing projects that will help our school and community. These students will be experiencing creativity, critical thinking and collaboration with one another. Their communication skills will be enhanced as they work through their projects and share their learning with others. The supplies will help the students explore and create their projects that will be shared and showcased to our school community. These supplies will help the students create without having limitations on the supplies they have access to. Some examples are the card stock, poster boards, mediums (paints, colored pencils, markers), brushes, and rulers which will be used to create posters, and props for the Project Based Learning and Community Service Outreach Projects. Some of the projects that students will take part in are creating posters and advertisements for Community Service projects such as our Canned Food Drive and Community Outreach Projects. Students will also participate in a variety of STEM and STEAM projects to push their learning further. The bags of dried beans and sandwich/snack bags will be used as math manipulatives for stretch lessons dealing with fractions, decimals, and percents. Helping students to see information presented in variety of new ways and new strategies to solve problems, are at the core of enrichment programs and Stretching students. The Chess sets and ThinkFun Escape the Room game will also be used to help these students learn strategies and problem solving and sequencing of moves to set up for winning. Learning and experiencing the game of chess and challenge games will help stretch these students and possibly in the future set up a chess club after school.
