By using these dictionaries throughout the year, my students will be able to use their own knowledge more effectively and accurately when performing spelling tasks and looking for spelling options. These dictionaries will directly impact the students' ability to write better as they will want to reach for their own dictionary to find a word they want to add to their writing. This will build each child's communication with learning words, and alphabetical order skills. Students will become word collectors as they encounter new vocabulary through the use of these dictionaries as well. Who doesn't want to be a spelling wizard?!
