Percy Jackson Book 1 will be used with my 6th grade classes and will tie into their World History class. This novel study will help make the students aware that similar content can be taught in multiple classes. In addition, this novel is packed with action and relatable characters that will hook students and hopefully become lifelong readers. My Thirteenth Winter by Samantha Abeel is a student memoir from a child who learned that "Sometimes a challenge can be an inspiration". She discovered through self discovery of having a learning disability and gifted in different areas helps you become an inspiration to many people. This novel study will connect to many students while helping others become aware of the daily struggles their classmates deal with. My goal with this novel study is to form a connection within my class.
